Conference about "Food Systems, Water Rights, and COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation"

The California Center of the Institut des Amériques, the Latin American Institute (UCLA) and the American Indian Studies Center are organizing an online conference about "Food Systems, Water Rights, and COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation".

This event will be an in-depth conversation about Diné struggles for food sovereignty and environmental justice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Navajo Nation continues to suffer serious impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic, in large measure due to the structural inequalities it experiences as an indigenous territory. What are the impacts of the pandemic for farmers and activists? What can they – and we – do to alleviate the inequalities that the Diné and all Native American peoples face?
